What are Naturally-Reared Dogs?

To answer this question, let's begin by telling you what they are NOT!

Naturally-reared dogs are not loaded with toxins via ongoing neurotoxin exposure through regular toxic deworming, regular toxic flea and tick treatments, and loads of toxic vaccines.  Naturally-reared dogs receive the minimum exposure possible to these toxic treatments that are commonly overused with most other dogs.

In an ideal world, all dogs would be raised on a raw diet with zero exposure to toxic chemicals.  This would allow the most natural development of their nervous system, immune system, digestive system, skeletal system, and all other systems in their bodies.

Unfortunately, we do not live in an ideal world (yet - the good news is that it is coming), so we have to make do with what we have at our disposal now, and work within the restraints in which we live.

Our puppies receive a very gentle dewormer at 2, 4, and 6 weeks, and only as needed after that.  We do not deworm ongoing, and only do another round if/when needed.  Our dewormer is not easily digested, so the toxic chemicals pass through the puppies' digestive systems and are eliminated with the worms it kills rather than going into the puppies' bloodstreams and brains.  This means they do not receive the toxic load most dewormers cause.

While our puppies are developing, they receive almost zero toxic chemicals, which allows for optimal development and growth.  Our puppies receive a natural supplement that we make up ourselves that has natural ingredients to build the puppies' immune systems, support puppies developing natural balance with worms, and help naturally-repel fleas and ticks.  We only ever use chemical flea and tick treatments if it is a particularly bad year for them and we find our natural treatment is not sufficient to keep the fleas and ticks at bay.  If you purchase a puppy, we will give you a copy of our supplement recipe, so you can continue to use it if you choose.

Our puppies are raised on their mama's milk, raw cow or goat milk (when we have it available), meat, and puppy kibble, along with our natural supplement, which includes raw liver, gizzards, hearts, eggs, and many herbal, fruit, and vegetable ingredients.  We always recommend puppies be raised on a 100% raw diet, if possible, but we understand it is not always financially feasible.

As far as vaccines, we do not vaccinate our puppies, as this is a decision we believe their new owners should make, not us.  The typical vaccine schedule for puppies can be very detrimental to a puppy's long-term health and development, and can even lead to catastrophic acute and chronic conditions.  We recommend the bare minimum (rabies, if required by your state), thimerisol-free vaccines be given, & only after the pup is significantly older.  In Virginia, for example, rabies is required by law, but only at 4 months and older.  Young puppies should not receive any vaccines, in our opinion.  Also, we recommend testing titer levels instead of automatic boosters, as boosters may be completely unnecessary and can increase the risk of your puppy developing vaccine-related health challenges.  Our holistic vet has reported to us that she has only ever had to give boosters one time in the past 7 years because titers show boosters are not even needed in most cases!

A great resource on the subject is Dogs Naturally Magazine.  Their free website (https://www.dogsnaturallymagazine.com/) is loaded with excellent, well-researched and documented  information about raising puppies and dogs as naturally as you can.  They have a lot of information on deworming, flea and tick treatments, and vaccines.  We highly recommend you spend some time researching the subject on their site.
