GUARDIANSHIP & SOCIALIZATION

  • Predator Load: We have a very heavy predator load, including foxes, coyotes, bears, cougars, hawks, owls, raccoons, opposums, etc.
  • Farm Animal Exposure: Puppies are moved outside at 3 weeks old. They begin mingling with our chickens, turkeys, guineas, cattle, goats, and adult guardian dogs shortly after they are moved outside.
  • Socialization: Puppies are born inside and handled daily, so they are very well socialized. Once they move outside, they are socialized with our animals, but still play with our children as well.

CARE APPROACH

  • Diet: Mama's milk, raw cow or goat milk (when available), raw eggs, raw meat, puppy kibble, and raw food-based supplement
  • Health Approach: Puppies are raised with minimal toxic exposure to encourage optimal, healthy development.
  • Vet Exam: Puppies will receive a thorough health exam by our holistic vet between 6 and 8 weeks of age to ensure they are healthy before they go to their new homes.
  • Deworming: Puppies will receive a low-toxic dewormer at 2, 4, 6, & 8 weeks or as otherwise advised by our holistic vet based on their exam. The food-based supplement also helps them to naturally manage and keep worm loads at bay.
  • Vaccinations: Our puppies receive no vaccations before they go to their new homes, as vaccinations give a very high toxic exposure for developing puppies to manage. We believe the new owners should make the decisions about what, if any vaccines, are given to their puppy. We recommend that owners only vaccinate with what is required by law. In Virginia, this is the rabies vaccine and it is not required until 4 months old. We also recommend that you ask your vet for a thimersol-free (mercury-free) rabies vaccine. Please always request any titers that are available for any vaccine your puppy receives before allowing boosters to be given. Very often, boosters are completely unecessary when titers are checked.

    • Due to high demand, we are currently accepting deposits and contracts on upcoming litters.
    • You may apply to go on the Waiting List. If we approve you, you will be required to commit with a deposit and completed contract in order to reserve a puppy and secure your position on the Waiting List.
    • You also have the option to be added to the Standby List at any time, but being on the Standby List does not guarantee that you will receive a puppy.  Puppies are only offered to those on the Standby List when a puppy comes available and there is no-one already on the Waiting List.  Those on the Standby List will be informed about any puppy that comes available before any puppy will be advertised publicly.
    • If this litter does not have enough puppies to meet the need, the Waiting List will automatically transition to the next litter available.  We usually have 4-6 litters per years.
    • To apply for the Waiting List or to be put on the Standby List, please click the Puppy Waiting List in our menu at the top of the page and submit your request there.
